This second book of Corky starts out with Teri's new job as a trial assistant to the Prosecuting Attorney. This job also includes Corky being expected to show up for work as well. Their first case involves a young boy who was paralyzed by being shot in the back. Corky assists the boy in his Physical Therapy session; which also include Veterans. A hard concept for Corky because his kind would have been tossed out of the nest. This became his motto to help them as well - "Don't Toss the Vets out of the Nest!"
