The book Beans and Mangoes is a slice of the life of five young sisters who live with their parents on an island in the Bahamas. Each week the girls receive a box of seasonal fruits and vegetables by mailboat from their grandmother, who is a farmer on a sister island. The girls' personalities are on display as they have fun unpacking the tropical goodies.
