My daughter Angie Smith Melson was a very creative person, an artist. She had a son, Sam and a daughter Mei, from China. My other granddaughter, Jessi was eight years old.
One morning in 2007 Angie called me and said, "I wrote a little story for Jessi. I'll send it you."
And There's A Mermaid In My Bathtub was born. We as a family enjoyed it immensely and forgot about it.
In 2014 Angie died of a brain aneurism. I decided to try to make the story into a book that her family and friends could enjoy. I landed at Authorhouse. I found an illustrator in my family. Paul Yakes agreed to do my illustrations. I provided pictures of Jessi and Mei for inspiration. I hope the book can be enjoyed by many eight year old girls, but for me just the fact that Angie's work will be immortalized will be awesome.
